The Toon boss apologized for a foul-mouthed rant aimed at Manuel Pellegrini but admitted he still can't fathom the officials' decision to chalk off his team's first-half strike.Alan Pardew was left fuming by the decision by referee Mike Jones to disallow Cheikh Tiote’s goal in Newcastle's 2-0 defeat to Manchester City at St James' Park.
The Cote d'Ivoire international found the net with a stunning strike toward the end of the first half, but after consulting with his assistant referee, Jones decided to chalk off the strike because of the presence of Yoan Gouffran in an offside position.
The strike would have drawn the Magpies level, but they were left instead to chase the game.

“Of course I’m frustrated,” the Newcastle boss told reporters after the game. “The goal that was disallowed kind of set the tone for the rest of the game because we felt a huge injustice in that. My point was did he think that Gouffran was interfering with Joe Hart and he [Mike Jones] said he was in the six-yard box, and I get that.
"The guy was recovering from an offside position he didn’t want anything to do with the play. He’s not interfering with Joe Hart’s vision; in fact, it goes on the inside of him and the Man City players are impairing Joe’s vision, not Gouffran.
“It’s a real tiny technical matter that he’s talking about here and to chalk a goal off of that quality, that takes some doing I think and it did set the tone for the rest of the game," he continued. “I think the rule is right, I just think the interpretation of it today was wrong.”
Pardew was involved in a heated war of words with Manchester City coach Manuel Pellegrini as the sides went in for the break and the former West Ham boss apologized for his foul-mouthed tirade at the Chilean – which was caught by television cameras - admitting that he got lost in the moment.
“I apologize for my comments 100 percent,” the 52-year-old continued. “It was a heat of the moment thing and we just had words that we always have as managers to a degree.
“I’ve apologized to him and fortunately for myself he’s accepted that. I apologized for that particular word. But you know we sort of tease each other and have words.”
