Goal correspondent Greg Stobart puts his neck on the line with his match predictions for this weekend's Premier League fixtures. It has been another good week for Liverpool. Talk of Luis Suarez leaving has subsided, while discussions over a new contract are reportedly underway. The club's crushing 5-0 victory at Tottenham has seen its rivals plummet into more turmoil, with Andre Villas-Boas subsequently sacked, and Brendan Rodgers’ side can go top with a victory over Cardiff City on Saturday.
Suarez has struck 17 Premier League goals so far this season, and it is his form that will likely see Liverpool top the table, and, depending on what happens between Arsenal and Chelsea on Monday, Rodgers' men could even lead the league on Christmas Day.
Manchester United, meanwhile, progressed to the Capital One Cup semifinals this week, and now faces another of the midweek victors, West Ham, at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Having experienced home defeats to Everton, Newcastle and West Brom so far, David Moyes will hope the club's recent resurgence will continue against the Hammers. But West Ham, buoyed by its second victory at Spurs this season, desperately needs league points of its own as the club looks to move away from the relegation zone.
Elsewhere, the Premier League has certainly saved the best until last. Arsenal will expect to find itself in second spot come kickoff Monday evening against Chelsea, and following the punishing 6-3 defeat away to Manchester City last time out, Arsene Wenger will be looking for a reaction.
Chelsea however needs a pick-me-up of its own, having crashed out of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday at the hands of Sunderland. Jose Mourinho’s side sits two points behind Arsenal, and depending on what happens at Anfield, could send its opponent down to third place with victory at the Emirates Stadium.
