thumbnail Hello,

Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed the center back will not feature against Viktoria Plzen, indicating that the 27-year-old's return is likely to be against Swansea City on Sunday.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has returned to training after having been sidelined for over seven weeks with a thigh injury.

The Belgium international was substituted during the first half of City’s 3-1 win over Everton on October 5 with the injury, but took part in full training ahead of the club’s Champions League fixture against Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday.

Despite his participation in the session, however, City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that the center back will not feature against the Czech side.

"Vincent began working with the squad this week. I think next week he will be fit to play, but he won’t be involved tomorrow night," he said. "(Stevan) Jovetic, (David) Silva and (Jack) Rodwell will be out for one week or 10 days more, so they will miss tomorrow and Sunday (against Swansea City).”

With two Group D fixtures remaining, City has already reached the knockout stage of the Champions League along with Bayern Munich, which is three points ahead of Pellegrini’s men in the table.
