Howedes: England is a World Cup favorite

The Schalke captain has singled out Roy Hodgson's men as an outstanding candidate for next summer's competition and is looking forward to Tuesday's friendly.
Germany international Benedikt Howedes believes England is a force to be reckoned with at next year's World Cup in Brazil.

The Three Lions have not made it past the quarterfinals since the 1990 World Cup, yet Howedes feels they are one of the favorites to go all the way next summer.

"England have a good team. They are one of the favorites at the World Cup," Howedes was quoted as saying by Reviersport.

The defender then went on to discuss Tuesday's international friendly at Wembley and stressed that it will not be an easy game for Germany.

"The game against England will be a great match," he continued. "We are really looking forward to playing at Wembley, even though we all realize it won't be easy to play there."

Germany recorded a 4-1 win over England  at the 2010 World Cup last time they met.
