The 20-year-old, out of action through injury since the opening game of the season, pitted his console skills against the on line gaming whiz-kid in the BT Sport studios.
Oxlade-Chamberlain will no doubt be delighted to watch his high-flying teammates perform so strongly in the Premier League, but there will surely be some frustration that he cannot play a part himself.
So when online gaming legend KSI offered to take him on in a game of FIFA 14 at the BT Sport studios, the England international could not resist the opportunity to let off some steam and maybe even add to the gamer's suffering at the hands of Arsenal players.
"He [KSI] lost 6-1 to Emmanuel Frimpong the other day and Frimpong has never beaten me, so just putting it out there!" a confident Oxlade-Chamberlain taunted.
But KSI, a household name to FIFA lovers with over three million subscribers to his YouTube channel, harbored no pre-match jitters this time around and responded with some jibes of his own.
"I am used to playing people from all over the world but it’s been great to play with a professional footballer such as the Ox. I hear that a lot of the footy lads have banter about FIFA skills," he said.
"Apparently they play it a lot in down time and on tours, so I was keen to see what Alex had in his locker. Personally I think he should stick to the real game and leave FIFA to me!"
