The center back hopes Spurs can beat Manchester City on Sunday to set up a strong finish to the season, calling on the White Hart Lane crowd to generate a "rocking" atmosphere.
Spurs currently occupy fifth position in the Premier League, and sit three points behind Chelsea, two below Arsenal and two ahead of Everton - though they have a game in hand over the latter pair.
Andre Villas-Boas' men still face some tough fixtures against teams scrapping for their lives at the other end of the table, but before then they come up against reigning league champion Manchester City. Dawson admitted Roberto Mancini's men will pose a tricky test when they visit North London on Sunday, but he insists the club must stay upbeat and pick up points where they can.
“There are a lot of points to play for and we have to be positive,” Dawson told the club's official website. “City have picked up their form, had great result against United and then in the FA Cup semifinal.
“They will be full of confidence and have some great players but coming to the Lane, the place will be rocking and hopefully we’ll perform well and get the right result.”
The 29-year-old reiterated the impact the atmosphere created by the home crowd can have, indicating it has helped them out in the past.
"There is no better place than White Hart Lane when it’s rocking and that support can make such a difference,” Dawson said. “When the players are performing and the fans are behind us, they are our 12th man, just like they were recently against Arsenal. We’d all love a repeat of that.”
