The Manchester United boss has lashed out at his Manchester City counterpart for claiming that his side are not worthy of being 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League.Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed Roberto Mancini's claim that Manchester United do not deserve to be as much as 12 points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
The Red Devils boss has hit back at his Italian counterpart, suggesting that he is seeking sympathy after a disappointing campaign in the Premier League and Europe.
"I think that's absolute nonsense, I really do," Ferguson told reporters. "There's a lot of games I've watched this season when teams are playing City and I've said to myself: 'Are they trying?' But of course they're trying."
He added, "The English game is the most honest in the world. They all do their best because that's the nature of the English game. So it's absolute nonsense what he said. He was maybe looking for a bit of self-sympathy or something like that."
