Tottenham's Bale stretchered off against Basel

The Wales international has been taken off injured during Spurs' Europa League quarterfinal tie at White Hart Lane with an ankle injury
Tottenham forward Gareth Bale was stretchered off the pitch toward the end of Spurs' Europa League tie with FC Basel at White Hart Lane.

The Welsh winger appeared to fall heavily on his right ankle as it twisted in the turf and was taken straight down the tunnel with his head in his hands, visibly in agony.

The North London outfit faces crucial clashes with Everton and Manchester City in its quest to finish in the top four, either side of the return leg against Basel, having drawn 2-2 with the Swiss side on Thursday.

The absence of Bale is sure to be sorely felt by Andre Villas Boas and his side, with the injury compounding a miserable evening for Spurs as they also lost Aaron Lennon and William Gallas to injury and conceded two away goals.
