Chelsea fans turn on Torres and call for Demba Ba

The disappointing striker was booed until he was replaced by the club's new signing in the closing minutes of the match
Chelsea fans’ frustrations with much-maligned striker Fernando Torres appear to have reached the boiling point on Wednesday night, with supporters booing the Spaniard and calling for Demba Ba.

The Spanish striker started the Capital One Cup semifinal first-leg tie against Chelsea, but it was another Spaniard who left his mark on the game as Michu scored to gives the Swans a 2-0 win.

Torres, who was making his 100th appearance for the Blues, managed 81 minutes despite another rather poor performance, threatening rarely before being hooked, which was a popular decision.

Throughout the match Torres had been targeted by sections of the Chelsea support, with boos audible, while chants for Demba Ba echoed around Stamford Bridge after the former Newcastle man’s goal-scoring debut.

Rafa Benitez gave in to the incessant crowd and introduced Ba with just under 10 minutes to go, and during that short cameo, he looked considerably more dangerous than Torres, going close twice before having a goal disallowed for being marginally offside.

Danny Graham added a second for Swansea late on, while the Chelsea fans' annoyance towards Torres was soon aimed at Benitez, with chants for Roberto Di Matteo ringing out.
