Queens Park Rangers, Fulham, Aston Villa and Liverpool wore black armbands to pay their respect to the victims of the tragedy, 20 of whom were young children. According to QPR's twitter account, it was the club's players who decided on the gesture.
"At the request of the players QPR will wear black armbands in tribute to those who lost their lives in Connecticut #RIP," the team tweeted from its @OfficialQPR account.
Liverpool also held a memorial for its former captain Phil Taylor, who passed away on December 1. Both Aston Villa and Liverpool have American owners.
