Dempsey and Sigurdsson delighted by Tottenham form

The U.S. star and Iceland international both assisted on goals during Spurs’ 3-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday but insist that they must build on their impressive run.
Tottenham attackers Clint Dempsey and Gylfi Sigurdsson have expressed their delight at the club’s recent form, as Spurs made it three wins in three matches with their victory over Fulham on Saturday.

After an inconsistent start to the season, Andre Villas-Boas’ men finally seem to have found their rhythm as the busy and crucial festive period approaches. Dempsey played a vital role in his side’s victory at Craven Cottage, twice going close to scoring before threading a clever throughball to Jermain Defoe for Tottenham’s third of the afternoon.

"We were able to open the game up in the second half and it was good to help the team win by getting an assist for Jermain,” Dempsey told the club’s official website. "Jermain's on fire. I could have played it earlier but I held it to see if I could get more space between the center back and right back, and I was able to thread it through.

"He had a great first touch and he's so clinical in front of goal. It's great to have a player of his quality."

Dempsey warned that in spite of his side’s form, it is important that Spurs continue to climb the league table and not get complacent.

"It's difficult to get results in this league, period," Dempsey added. "We were going through a tough spell, but we've responded with three wins in a row. That's great, it lifts us up the table and now it's about pushing on from here."

Sigurdsson was also pivotal in his side’s victory as well, after turning cleverly and feeding the ball to Defoe to add Spurs’ second goal. The Iceland international enjoyed his performance, claiming that things are looking bright for his team.

"When I came on it was 1-0, and I wanted to help us finish the game off," Sigurdsson said. "I managed to get the assist and was delighted to see Jermain score. That made it 2-0 and a little more comfortable. Jermain then scored the third.

"It was a very good win and great to keep a clean sheet away from home against a team like Fulham. That's three wins in a row and things are looking good."
