The Ivorian recently announced his intention to see out his career at the Etihad, and his manager has responded by hinting that he could be handed a fresh contract.
Since arriving in Manchester from Barcelona two years ago, Toure has been a revelation for City, leading to speculation that he could move clubs in the future; however, the 29-year-old recently expressed his desire to remain at the Etihad for the rest of his career.
Mancini responded positively to the Ivorian’s comments, and when asked whether the former Blaugrana man could be offered a new contract, the Italian spoke of the player’s importance to the club.
"I think so, because Yaya for us is a very important player and for me, personally, he is one of the best players in Europe,” he told reporters. "In my life, I saw a lot of big players, and I think Yaya is part of this."
While Toure has put in some strong performances this season, he is yet to hit the heights of last season, but his manager insists that this is due to the absence of key players around him.
"It is probably because we had many injuries, to many important players like David Silva," he continued. "If we play David and Samir [Nasri] then Yaya will play better, this is sure."
