The FA has confirmed that the Chelsea pair will not travel with the Three Lions squad to Warsaw for the World Cup 2014 qualifier at the National Stadium on Tuesday.

The Football Association has confirmed that Chelsea pair Frank Lampard and Ryan Bertrand will not take part in England's World Cup 2014 qualifier with Poland on Tuesday due to injury and illness, respectively.

"Frank Lampard and Ryan Bertrand have been ruled out of England's FIFA World Cup qualifier with Poland," the FA wrote in a statement. "Lampard (calf) and Bertrand (illness) did not take part in England's 5-0 win over San Marino, and will not be ready for Tuesday's game."

Manager Roy Hodgson had initially hoped Lampard would recover in time to feature in Warsaw. Bertrand, meanwhile, caused controversy last week with his rebuttal on Twitter to the accusations that he had left the England camp due to a sore throat.

"Just to clarify.... Its not a "sore throat" Im ill. Swollen glands in my neck... And constant headache for 3 days now and freezin cold," the 23-year-old tweeted. "Do you think a "sorethroat" could stop me being apart of a match for my club or country #yourf***ingnuts this is what every boy dreams of."

The Stamford Bridge duo will now prepare to get fit in time for Chelsea's crucial league match and London derby against Tottenham on Saturday.
