Laudrup hoping Swansea can build on impressive start

The Danish boss has called for his side to replicate its Premier League form when it takes on Barnsley in the second round of the League Cup on Tuesday evening
Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has underlined his desire to see the Swans continue its good start to the season in the League Cup.

The Danish boss has enjoyed an impressive start to life in the Premier League, overseeing convincing victories over QPR and West Ham which has taken the Welsh side to second in the table.

And the former Real Madrid forward is hopeful that his side can replicate that form when it takes on Barnsley on Tuesday.

Laudrup told reporters: "We want to win on Tuesday, we want to get on in the cup and then get a good win against Sunderland on Saturday so we can really enjoy our start to the season."

The ex-Mallorca coach also hailed the strength of his squad, insisting that Swansea can maintain their good run even with a heavily changed side.

"Of course it is always nice to play at Wembley but I think the most important thing is not if you make changes, it is that you always field a competitive team," he added.

"All the players know our style and after these opening games there is a lot of confidence, and the players coming in will have that confidence, and that is so important in football and we have to take advantage of where we are right now."

Fullback Ben Davies, a substitute against West Ham, is one player likely to benefit from any rotation and the 19-year-old has revealed the positive vibes currently around the club.

"I'm just very excited to be a part of what's going on at the club at the moment, especially after the wins against QPR and West Ham," he enthused. "Hopefully I can be involved on Tuesday.

"It's been a different start with a new manager. It was tough to come to terms with Brendan Rodgers leaving but Michael Laudrup has been great in training and tactically he's very easy to understand."
