The new manager insists he is against selling the Denmark international, before revealing that Swansea midfielder Joe Allen should join the club within "the next 24 hours"
The defender has been linked with a move to Manchester City, with speculation being further fueled by the new manager’s admission that every player at the club has a sale price.
Agger, who joined the Reds from Brondby in 2006, has established himself as a key player on Merseyside and Rodgers was full of praise for his ability after he completed 90 minutes in his side's convincing 3-0 Europa League victory over Gomel.
"There’s nothing new to add. You can see tonight he’s important to me and how I like to play,” Rodgers told reporters.

"I like to have a playmaker in behind and Daniel, this is his game, building from behind, stepping in with the ball and making passes. For me there’s no update because we don’t want to sell him.
"He’s a player who’s very important for me and will remain that way."
Rodger's also confirmed that he believes the arrival of Joe Allen from his former employers Swansea City is imminent and the transfer should be completed within “the next 24 hours”
"[The deal] is obviously imminent but I haven’t heard the total latest because I’ve been preparing for the game,” he added. "But if he’s up here then it’s obviously a sign that there’s been good communication with Swansea and hopefully over the next 24 hours we can conclude that."
