The Red Devils skipper has been out of action for six months with a knee problem, but has set his sights on being back in time for the first game of the new campaign
The center-back has been out of action since December when an awkward fall during a Champions League game against FC Basel left him with a damaged cruciate ligament.
As Serbia failed to qualify for the upcoming Euro 2012 tournament it means Vidic can concentrate solely on his fitness as he looks to lead the Red Devils out on the opening day of the 2012-13 campaign.
Goal.com exclusively revealed at the start of May that Vidic was on course to be ready in time for the new season and the 30-year-old has confirmed that his recovery is going well.
The 30-year-old told The Sun on Sunday: "I can now run and do some things on the pitch which is better for me psychologically because for the last four months it's been every day in the gym, which is hard.
"But the worst part is behind me. I can look forward to the second half of the rehabilitation and work more on my fitness. Hopefully, I'll be fit for the big kick-off."Follow GOAL.COM USA on
