The Mexican believes a win is needed at Old Trafford to push towards another trophy, while teammate Chris Smalling reveals the rivalry is thickened among England players

Javier Hernandez believes beating Liverpool on Saturday is a necessity if Manchester United is to claim a record 20th league title.

The 23-year-old striker scored the third and final goal for the Red Devils off the bench to complete a remarkable comeback from three down to secure a 3-3 draw at Chelsea on Sunday.

The Mexico international is under no illusions that the club needs to win to keep chasing league-leader Manchester City and admits pushing towards another title encourages the squad.

“To beat Liverpool it doesn’t matter in which position of the table you are – you need to win that type of game,” Chicharito told DHL.

“It’s a lot of motivation to know we can change number 19 to 20. We want to play very well, to win that three points and to keep fighting to the title.”

United defender Chris Smalling, 22, revealed the rivalry will be even stronger for those who know fellow England players in the opposition team at Old Trafford this weekend.

“You want to win no matter what,” the former Fulham defender admitted.

“We’ll be going all out to definitely put one over and obviously a few of us know a few of their lads through England so it’s even more rivalry.
