Sir Alex Ferguson confirms Dimitar Berbatov is set to return for Manchester United's clash with QPR

The United boss has revealed that the Bulgarian striker will be available for selection at Loftus Road after overcoming a foot injury picked up in the defeat to Crystal Palace
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Dimitar Berbatov will be available for selection against QPR at Loftus Road on Sunday.

The 30-year-old limped off with a foot injury in United’s League Cup defeat to Championship outfit Crystal Palace in November.

Despite returning to training seven days ago, the Bulgarian was not deemed fit enough to feature in last weekend’s 4-1 win over Wolves at Old Trafford.

"Berbatov's fit and should be available for Sunday, Rafael is back training as well, which is good," Ferguson told reporters. "Darron Gibson got a knock last night [playing for United’s reserve side]. We took him off as a precaution but he should be okay."

QPR currently sits 13th in the Premier League, and the United boss insists it will not be easy for his side to claim three points away to a side who have taken points off Chelsea and Newcastle at home this season.

"I always enjoy going to Queens Park Rangers, it's always a good atmosphere and we used to be able to get a bigger support than normal," he added. "They used to give us one section - the one behind the goal and then part of the side, which always meant we had about 6,000 fans.

"We have a good record there and I hope we can continue that. They've done well and given themselves a chance of staying in the league by investing and bringing in a few players. It's going to be a hard game."
