thumbnail Hello,

The Gunners went down to another domestic defeat on Sunday at White Hart Lane, with the French boss admitting his team did not do their jobs properly and lack confidence

Arsene Wenger has bemoaned Arsenal's latest loss as a case of "two steps forward and one step back" for his side.

"It is two steps forward and one step back, it is exactly that," said Wenger. "Sunday was a game we could have come out of with a point but it [our inconsistent form] is down as well to a lack of confidence. We will come back because you could see again that there is a strong spirit in the team. But we have to become a bit more realistic and do our job better in certain situations."

The Gunners went down to defeat on Sunday at Tottenham having beaten Olympiakos and Bolton in their previous two games, with the French boss frustrated with his team's lack of confidence.

The French boss was pleased on the whole with his side's defensive display at White Hart Lane, but was disappointed with its lack of care for Kyle Walker's winning goal and for not having a killer instinct in the attacking third of the pitch.

"I felt on Sunday that defensively we are becoming stronger," continued Wenger. "But we lost the ball from good positions in the final third so we could have done better with our passing. Tottenham's second goal made the difference. After that they could sit back and play on the counterattack. That is why we are guilty because we did not do our job properly, we didn't defend properly on the winning goal."
