Liverpool have reached a pre-contract agreement with Rennes midfielder Sylvain Marveaux, who is set to join the Reds on a free transfer from France in the summer, SkySports report.

The 24-year-old is out of contract by the end of the season and the former France Under-21 man has been a long-term Liverpool target and was spotted watching the club at Anfield in January.

Kenny Dalglish reportedly believes that Marveaux is a signing that can complement the likes of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.

Liverpool’s director of football Damien Comolli has been pushing to sign the Frenchman for some time and he is expected to be the first of many arrivals on Merseyside this summer.
