Tottenham Hotspur Striker Jermaine Defoe Targeting 100 Goals Milestone
27-year-old currently on 92 goals for Spurs.
By Alex Young
Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermaine Defoe has revealed his excitement as he approaches 100 career goals for his club.
Spurs' second goal in the 4-0 win over BSC Young Boys was the 27-year-old’s 92nd in all competitions for the north London club, leaving him just eight away from joining a prestigious list of just 15 players who have achieved the feat in the past.
Apart from current teammate Robbie Keane, who has notched 121 goals for Spurs, legends such as Martin Chivers, Glenn Hoddle and Teddy Sheringham also feature on the list, with Jimmy Greaves topping the chart with 266 goals.
"There are some stunning names on that list, great players who are legends at this club," Defoe told Spurs’ official website.
"I would love to join them...scoring goals for Spurs makes me proud, as would being included in that chart."
In the meantime, Defoe will be looking to add to his current total of 12 goals for England as he hopes for a starting berth in the Euro 2012 qualifying game against Bulgaria.
