Giovani dos Santos Targets Serie A Switch
Milan and Genoa are possible destinations, but a move is some way off.
By Robin Bairner
Young Mexican attacker Giovani dos Santos has claimed that only a side from Serie A would be good enough to lure him away from present employers Tottenham Hotspur.
The 21-year-old forward, who spent a portion of last term on loan at Galatasaray after failing to break regularly into the Spurs side, is currently associated with both Genoa and Milan.
“I spoke recently to his father, who became his new agent, and he said Giovani would only move if an offer came in from Italy,” Calciomercato.it quoted FIFA agent Lodovico Spinosi saying.
“Tottenham wanted to sell him, but now Harry Redknapp is starting to understand how good a player he is.
“Tottenham do not have economic problems and don’t want to consider a loan, but I think for €6m something could happen.”
Spinosi, however, does not believe any transfer will be completed imminently. “At the moment neither side are on the verge of a deal,” the agent stated.
Should Giuseppe Sculli’s transfer to Inter successfully proceed, it is envisaged that the Grifoni could then swoop for the promising Mexican, who shone in the recent 2010 World Cup.
