Ramon Calderon, candidate for president of Real Madrid
Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has declared that signing Manchester United talisman Wayne Rooney is "an obsession" for current supremo Florentino Perez.

Following Madrid's exit from the UEFA Champions League, Rooney has reportedly been identified as the number one summer target to compliment the existing array of talent at the Bernabeu and Calderon believes that while United would not want to part with their star striker, an offer in the region of €80-100 million would be too much for the Premier League kingpins to refuse.

"It seems like an obsession for the president [Perez] to go for it. I imagine that Manchester would not want to lose a player like this," he is quoted as saying by AS.

"Sometimes it's about money and whether the a proposal is convincing enough, then you can reach an agreement. The most important thing is where the footballer wants to play.

"I do not know if it's possible to spend €80 or €100 million again. I guess if so, Manchester would have to sell."
