David Beckham is confident of making "a swift and full recovery" after suffering a suspected tear of his achilles tendon.

The Milan and England midfielder suffered a massive blow to his World Cup chances after being told he could be out for up to four months.

Nevertheless, such a setback has only encouraged him to get back to his best and make a complete return from injury.

"Hi all,

"I am on my way to Finland to see a specialist and have a scan on the injury," he told his official website, www.davidbeckham.com

"I am upset, but want to thank everyone for their messages of support.

"I hope to make a swift and full recovery.

"Thanks, David."
