Frank Lampard Eyes FA Cup Glory As Chelsea Cruise Into Semis
Blues have their sights set on taking the trophy home again.
By David Kifford
Frank Lampard has outlined the importance of Chelsea retaining the FA Cup after they knocked Stoke City out of the competition.
Lampard scored one and made the other as the Blues strolled past the Potters with a 2-0 victory.
The England international praised the way his teammates bounced back after the crushing 4-2 home defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League last weekend.
"It's never easy after a defeat like we had last week. That's not normal for us and we didn't play to our standards," he told ITV.
Chelsea skipper John Terry also played a part in both goals and he echoed Lampard's comments.
"It was important to show the fans how much the defeat last week hurt us," he said. "The most important thing was that we bounced back."
Chelsea now know that they will have to beat League Cup finalists Aston Villa to make another FA Cup final and Lampard assured the fans they want to lift the trophy once again.
He added: "It's [the FA Cup] always important, Wembley is a great day out for the fans and the club. We hold the cup and we want to get back there, simple as that."
