Birmingham City May 'Revisit' January Transfer Target Roman Pavlyuchenko
Blues could bid for Russian international in the summer.
By Niall McGlone
Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has admitted that the club may ‘revisit’ the possibility of bringing Roman Pavlyuchenko to St Andrew's in the summer.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker was a transfer target form McLeish during the January transfer window but the club saw a bid for the Russian international rejected.
The Blues boss has now said he may pursue the out-of-favor Spurs striker when the transfer window opens again at the end of the season.
“We went for Pavlyuchenko, as most people know, and his wages weren’t outrageous,” said McLeish.
“He’s a top player. He would have enhanced the squad.
“He would have come in and really upped the ante in terms of the competition for strikers but it wasn’t to be and maybe we will revisit it.”
Birmingham also failed to bring in RC Lens striker Aruna Dindane after agreeing terms with the club.
