Report: John Terry Refuses To Resign As England Captain
JT not giving up the armband.
The Mirror reports that under-fire England captain John Terry will not hand in the armband.
The skipper's position has come under fierce scrutiny amid the media storm surrounding his alleged affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the ex-girlfriend of Wayne Bridge.
Terry's image has taken a battering now that the scandal has gone public, while there are fears that he may have lost the respect of his Three Lions colleagues.
However, it is believed that the Chelsea star has no intention of tendering his resignation, meaning England manager Fabio Capello will have to make the final call.
A 'close friend' of Terry is quoted as saying: “JT has wanted to be England captain since he was a kid, so if people think he’s going to give that up they’ve got another thing coming.
“His life off the pitch has got nothing to do with his abilities as a player or as a captain. He believes he can still do the job on the pitch - and that’s all that matters in his eyes. You tell me a better man to lead England? There isn’t one.”
