thumbnail Hello,

All that's left for the Liverpool board to do is hope and pray, says the latest poll results.

Well, the season is halfway there and Liverpool is living on a prayer. That's how the song goes, right?

In a poll asking readers what the Liverpool board should do, half of the voters suggested “hope and pray” instead of the more tangible options. Though mildly humorous, the results do show just how far the Merseyside club has fallen since finishing second in the English Premier League last year.

A lack of reinforcements in the summer transfer window, injuries to key personnel such as Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard, and a huge string of poor results leaves Rafa Benitez's men down in sixth place and out of the Champions League and FA Cup.

A quarter of the voters leaned towards sacking Benitez pronto and bringing in someone new. Further back, 12% thought the best option was to wait until summer before firing the Spaniard and bringing in the best available replacement.

Roughly 14% even considered selling Gerrard to help reinforce the squad in other areas.

Clearly, there isn't an easy fix. Offer suggestions in the comments section below and be sure to vote every week in's poll to have your say.
