Report: Keane Expected To Keep Tottenham Captaincy

Tottenham captain Robbie Keane is expected to retain the armband despite dismaying Harry Redknapp by arranging a Christmas party.

Keane is believed to have staged a Christmas get-together in Dublin two weeks ago, before Redknapp publically warned his players that they would face reprisals if they held festive celebrations.

Earlier reports indicated that Keane's captaincy would be removed, but following a meeting with the players involved in the trip it is now understood that the matter has been resolved, with a donation made to charity.

Redknapp is likely to allow the Irish forward to keep hold of the armband, although the incident will continue to fuel rumors of a possible January sale of the 29-year old who rejoined Spurs at the turn of the year after an ill-fated six month stint at Liverpool.
