Midfielder's Eastlands miss has little bearing on future spot kicks.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that Frank Lampard will take the next penalty the Blues are awarded.

The England international missed a late chance to level matters up from the spot at Manchester City on Saturday, but his manager has no concerns about the player stepping up in the future.

"So, Lampard can miss a penalty," said the Italian, according to Sky Sports News.

"These things happen. It is no problem. He will take the next one."

Ancelotti also expressed some bemusement at the decision making during the game of referee Howard Webb, who did not award a handball against Micah Richards in the run-up to Emmanuel Adebayor's first-half equalizer.

The Italian also felt that Ricardo Carvalho had not erred despite television footage showing the Portuguese defender planting his foot into the back of Carlos Tevez. The Argentine scored from the resulting free kick.

"I don't know what the referee saw," said Ancelotti.

"It was handball against Richards and Carvalho played the ball clean.

"I am surprised because I consider Howard Webb to be a fantastic referee."
