Barry: Combating Kaka Will Be A 'Massive Test' For Me
Three Lions workhorse says he needs to step up on the international front against the Brazilian striker.
Manchester City midfielder Garreth Barry has declared that he needs to lift his game for England's upcoming international friendly against Brazil Saturday night, especially with superstars like Kaka lining up against him.
After years in representative oblivion, Barry is now back in the international fray where he is Fabio Capello’s most capped player since the Italian took the England coaching reigns from Steve McLaren in early 2008.
The former Aston Villa player is eager to test his skills against some of the world’s best but says he must be at his best to contain the dangerous Kaka.
As he said to Sportinglife: “In terms of essential midfield players, Kaka is rated number one in the world at the moment and to be up against him will be a massive test and something you want to be doing.”
Despite the uphill battle in front of him, Barry maintains that he will be relishing in his role as container.
“It is something I am looking forward to and it will be great to test myself against players like that, against Brazil as a whole because they are the number one team at the moment,” he said.
