Liverpool Sweating Over Fernando Torres Yet Again

Liverpool superstar Fernando Torres is likely to be out of action for longer than expected, as he attempts to dodge abdominal surgery.

Torres is currently facing at least three weeks worth of treatment, as well as therapy, to battle past the hernia which has plagued him for the better part of a month.

However, Reds boss Rafa Benitez is hopeful that the treatment will eliminate any need for surgery, meaning the leading Premier League goal-scorer will be back on the pitch much sooner than if he were to go under the knife.

But the big clashes will still be without the Spaniard, most significantly the Merseyside derby in three weeks time.

Rafa is nonetheless remaining optimistic about Torres’ future.

He told Mirror Football: “With Fernando Torres we are now talking about two or three weeks of treatment and working with the physios.”

“Hopefully he can be running in a few days and we will see how he progresses.”

Liverpool clash against Manchester City next Saturday at home in Anfield.
