Xabi Alonso Wishes Fernando Torres Would Return To Spain

Real Madrid midfielder says La Liga misses 'El Nino'.

The Spanish football league is currently profiting from an abundance of footballing talent due to the form of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi, yet Real Madrid recruit Xabi Alonso feels that La Liga is missing one special player - Fernando Torres.

Torres departed Spain for England in 2007, and has elevated himself into instant hero status at Liverpool due to his productivity in front of goal. Alonso, meanwhile, left Anfield in the summer to join Los Blancos' second wave of Galactico recruitment in a £30 million deal.

Alonso is quoted by Sport magazine as saying: "La Liga deserves players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, and Lionel Messi.

"Now we are only missing my good friend Fernando Torres," he added in what could be construed as a come-and-join-me plea.

"I hope to see him back in Spain one day, but I don't think he will come to Real Madrid," Alonso acknowledged.

"I think he has too big a heart for Atletico for that, sadly."

Madrid are currently second in Spain's La Primera Division; one point shy of champions Barcelona.
