Didier Drogba: It Is Important That Chelsea Beat Manchester United

Blues need to improve at the weekend after Atleti tie, according to striker.

Chelsea's powerful striker Didier Drogba, who scored twice on his return to Champions League action on Tuesday evening following a three-game suspension, believes a weekend win over Premier League rivals Manchester United is a mandatory requirement following their sub-par showing against Atletico Madrid.

The Blues fell behind in Spain due to a stunning Sergio Aguero strike, but Drogba levelled the scoreline before capitalising on a goalkeeping parry to sneak Chelsea ahead.

However, Aguero fired in a free kick to ensure the match ended at two-a-piece.

"It is really important for us to beat United at home," Drogba told This Is London. "We have to improve and show different qualities and be better than we were in Madrid.

"The match against Atletico was far from a good performance, we played well but were not good enough to win. I think we were thinking about Sunday's game," he admitted. 

Drogba is currently in the midst of a hot goalscoring run of form, and the Ivory Coast international believes he is playing the best football of his life.

"I think this is my best period for Chelsea.

"A few years ago I was playing with the same confidence. It's always easier when you are playing injury-free," concluded Drogba.
