Report: Barcelona Set To Make Loan Move For Manchester City’s Robinho

A permanent switch in January may not be on, but a temporary arrangement could be made.

Barcelona have not given up hope of prising Robinho away from Manchester City in the winter transfer window. They believe a loan deal could be on the cards, according to a report.

The Blaugrana have made their interest in the Brazilian public. The 25-year-old has responded in kind, stating that he could become the best player in the world at Camp Nou.

Despite the Catalan club and the player being fans of each other, City were keen to state that talk of a deal would only be possible next summer.

El Mundo Deportivo now believe that manager Mark Hughes could be prepared to let Robinho go if his club can find a replacement to boost his squad and push them towards a top four finish.

Hughes watched Barca play against Osasuna in Pamplona on Saturday and met technical secretary Txiki Begiristain, but spoke as only as old friends.

"We didn't speak about Robinho. It wasn't the time for those sort of questions," the Blaugrana director told Radio Catalunya.

City have been climbing the table without the former Real Madrid star, who has been injured for the past two months and is only now returning to full fitness.

A loan deal worth around €3.5 million is being mooted and a concrete offer will be put to the Premier League outfit in the next two weeks to see if they are interested.
