Dunne Perplexed By Inconsistent Aston Villa Form

The Irishman has slammed his side's lack of effort.

Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne has admitted his frustration at his side's poor showing at Wolverhampton Wanderers, just a week after toppling league-leaders Chelsea.

Having also defeated Liverpool this season, Villa have inexplicably crashed to defeats against Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers this season, and despite taking lead at the Molineux were perhaps entitled to feel lucky to come away with a draw after an unconvincing display.

Center-back Dunne suggested that his Villa side failed to rise to the occasion against the lesser sides, compared to the massive efforts put in against the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.

"There is a massive difference between the performances," the Irishman said in The Daily Mail.

"For whatever reason, we’re not putting in the same amount of effort, maybe. We need to improve because we are going to come across teams that we are not able to beat.

"Probably against Manchester United or Chelsea, on their day, we are going to struggle so we have to make sure that every game we play is a big game for us."

Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov admitted that Wolves were good value for their point: "They were quicker than us at times."
