In a tense encounter in the Midlands, it was honors even. Gabriel Agbonlahor put Aston Villa ahead in the 79th minute but four minutes later Sylvain Ebanks-Blake scored from the penalty spot to rescue a point for relegation-battling Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In the first period Wolves were by far the better side, despite an early one-on-one chance for Agbonlahor. Amidst the deluge and wind, Christophe Berra had an effort hacked off the line by James Milner before coming close with a header.

But the most dramatic moment involved not a goal but the referee. Peter Walton opted not to whistle when Richard Dunne wrestled Kevin Doyle in the area, resulting in no penalty for the hosts.

After the interval Villa began to impress, particularly through the energetic Ashley Young.

They duly took the lead ten minutes before the break, Emile Heskey threading a ball through to Gabby Agbonlahor, who in turn managed to evade Jody Craddock before tapping home.

But referee Walton then proved decisive once again, whistling after Michael Kightly was felled in the box by Steve Sidwell. Ebanks-Blanke's first goal of the season from the spot gave the hosts a deserved point.
