Official: Fabian Delph Leaves Leeds And Joins Aston Villa
The teenager has joined up with Martin O'Neill in the West Midlands today.
A statement on the Villa website reads:
"Aston Villa can confirm the signing of Fabian Delph from Leeds United for an undisclosed fee.
"The 19-year-old midfielder has joined after agreeing terms and passing a medical."
It is not yet known what length of contract the player has signed, though earlier reports had suggested that it would be for four years. It is also believed that the fee is £8 million.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill faced additional late competition for the player's signature, with Manchester City boss Mark Hughes registering an interest yesterday, whilst Everton and Tottenham Hotspur were also rumored to be keen admirers of the England Under-21 international.
However, The Guardian reports that O'Neill, with the backing of club owner Randy Lerner, returned to Leeds with an improved bid of £6 million plus £2 million in add-ons for the Bradford-born youngster.
