Malouda: Chelsea Must Win Their Home Games This Season

The French winger knows that Stamford Bridge must become a fortress again if the Blues are to wrest the title back from Old Trafford.

Chelsea winger Florent Malouda feels that home form is crucial if the club are to mount a serious challenge to regain the Premier League title over the course of the coming campaign, as he believes that drawing too many games proved to have a negative effect on their challenge last season.

"It's important to win every game at home," the Frenchman told the club's official website.

"Being unbeatable at home and taking every point is where you make the difference.

"We have made too many draws at home and when you look at the end of last season, that is what made the difference."

FA Cup holders Chelsea face reigning Premier League champions Manchester United on August 9 in the Community Shield curtain-raiser at Wembley, and Malouda, who scored his first senior goal in the 2007 equivalent, is hopeful that the Blues can use the game to put down a real marker for the new season.

"The season is really long but a win would show everyone our ambitions and that we can beat Man Utd in a big final," he added.

"Even if it's not the biggest trophy, we have to take it as a big final and play it as a big final. But it is at the beginning of the season, and in a season you have 10 months to prove you are on top, although you definitely have to win every trophy you can, so let us start with this one.

"I hope this Community Shield is going to be the start of our winning trophies this season."
