Yakubu Sets 20 Goal Target With Everton

'The Yak' hopes to make a triumphant return to the club that will face the MLS All-Stars tomorrow.

Uefa Cup: Ayegbeni Yakubu, Everton - SK Brann (PA)
Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni recently spoke to fans through the club's official website chat, giving his thoughts on all things Toffee flavored during his injury downtime. Yakubu is with the team in the U.S., in the state of Utah, where Everton will take on a Major League Soccer All-Star squad on Wednesday.

Mick Rathbone - the club's physio - recently revealed that Yakubu was nearing full fitness, but the Nigerian himself is unsure of any specific date  that he might make a full recovery.

"I don't know really. It's been good to be training with the team. [My injury] is getting better and better," Yakubu started.

"I'm just being patient, working hard, setting goals and sticking to them."

When quizzed by a fan if he would have competition from Louis Saha and Jo for a place in the starting XI, the striker answered in modest fashion.

"I'm happy that we have such good quality up front now. They're settling in well - it'll be great to fight for my place," he went on.

"Every year the side is getting better. We are getting stronger as a unit and we are building. It's great.

"I just want to keep fit, get better and score goal and hopefully get to a final and win a trophy."

The 26-year-old concluded with his intentions for next season, hoping that he can crush his previous goal tallies and score well into double figures.

"I've never scored below 10, I want to score more. I want to score as many as I can. Over 20 hopefully," he finished.
