Report: Michael Owen To Choose Between Everton & Aston Villa
For the moment, Owen only has eyes for the Blues and the Villans, neither of whom have made an offer yet...
Michael Owen expects to be able to choose between a move to Everton or Aston Villa in the near future.
The Newcastle United striker is out of contract today, and he has no intention of staying with the Magpies. According to The Independent, Owen is counting on an offer from David Moyes' Toffees or Martin O'Neill's Villans, the two options he prefers above any others.
Owen is said to favour Everton slightly, but Villa are in a better position to offer him a more rewarding contract. It must be stressed that neither club have made an offer yet, but Owen and his representatives are confident that, now that he is officially a free agent, it is only a matter of time.
Meanwhile, clubs like Stoke City, Hull City and Olympiakos have registered a definite interest, but the former Liverpool star only sees these as back-up options in case his preferred choices do not work out.
A prolific goal-scorer during his prime, Owen only managed 26 goals in four injury-plagues seasons at St. James' Park, where he was captain of the club.
