Carlos Queiroz: Ronaldo Was Not Disloyal To Man United
One former Red Devil thinks loyalty cuts both ways when it comes to Ronaldo's departure from Old Trafford.
That it is the view of Portugal national coach Carlos Queiroz, who, as well as his work with Ronaldo at international level, has also coached the player whilst he was Alex Ferguson's assistant at Old Trafford.
The coach thinks that any claims about the superstar's disloyalty are very wide of the mark, as he demonstrated ample commitment to the Mancunians over the course of his career in England.
"When you talk about loyalty, you must understand that loyalty has two directions," Queiroz told Sky Sports.
"In terms of the modern game, loyalty is to be a great professional, to be committed to the club, to be engaged with the coach and the vision of the club and nobody can put one thing against Cristiano because, as a professional, he's brilliant.
"But as you know, with 95 per cent or 96 per cent of movement in football, it is the managers at the clubs that dictate the movements.
"Once in a while, some of the top players have the capacity and the power to create their own motivation," he added.
Ronaldo missed Portugal's international with Estonia last week with a groin injury.
