Moyes: Massive Cash Wouldn't Guarantee Everton More Success
The Blues boss knows that is isn't all about the dough.
Everton boss David Moyes has talked up his band of relatively cheaply assembled players ahead of tonight's league fixture against a star studded Chelsea side.
The Merseyside club are still basking in the afterglow of their much celebrated FA Cup semifinal success over Manchester United on the weekend, during which Everton showed all of the resilience and fighting spirit that they have become known for and which has made them so hard to beat.
Their Scottish manager has been rightfully heralded for getting the most out of what is a rather unremarkable squad on paper, but he was keen to stress that even a triple figure transfer budget doesn't guarantee more success.
"We've been fortunate, we've been given every penny that they can give us and as you can see, if you can get the right players in and they are hungry for success which we've tried to do, then it can happen," Moyes told local reporters.
"We've got a long way to go and it will be very hard to compete against the top boys, we know that.
"So you could give me a £100 million and it might not get me any closer, who knows.
"But the one thing we have got is we've got big hearts and a lot of character and we want to try and keep improving."
Chelsea and Everton meet at Stamford Bridge tonight in what is being dubbed a 'dress rehearsal' for next month's FA Cup Final.
