Chelsea's Portuguese playmaker Deco insists that he is fully recovered from his latest injury setback and ready to play a pivotal role at the Blues bid to come from behind to win the title.

The 31-year-old has had more than his fair share of injury-related tribulations since arriving from Barcelona, the most recent when he was forced to limp off against Manchester United with a recurrence of a hamstring problem which at that point looked set to end his season prematurely.

“It was difficult. I was disappointed because the week before I was training hard and training well and felt confident I was ready," Deco told the club's official website.

“Then I felt something in my hamstring again in the game, it was so disappointing."

Credit to the Brazilian-bred midfielder, he didn't let the disappointment get to him and kept his head down and worked hard to recover sooner than anyone could possibly have anticipated.

“After a few days I started again and hoped to play this season,” he added.

“Of course for me it was difficult after the second injury but I recovered well, starting here in Chelsea and then with the national team."

Deco was an unused substitute during Chelsea's surprisingly straightforward victory away to Newcastle on Saturday, as Blues boss Guus Hiddink looks to preserve him for some tough battles ahead.
