Carlos Tevez has made things personal by telling his Argentine team-mate and Premier League rival Javier Mascherano that he will end the season disappointed.

In the infamous words of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the Premier League season has reached "squeeky-bum time" as the league leaders have just a one point cushion together with a game in hand over title-chasing Liverpool.

Hard-working and industrious forward Carlos Tevez has further ignited the fire to the rivalry between the two Lancashire clubs by stating that Liverpool's anchoring midfielder Javier Mascherano will end the season disappointed, indicating that it will be United who triumph come May.

"After two consecutive losses, everybody thinks we have dropped out," Tevez is reported to have told the press.

"It is true that we feel a little tired at this stage of the season, but we will fight for the championship and the Champions League until the end.

"This team is very strong and I think we still have room for mistakes. Liverpool is close to us, but we must think only of us," he said.

"I've told Mascherano to be ready to be disappointed."

Liverpool take on Fulham at the Craven Cottage on Saturday, and could go top of the table temporarily, as Manchester United do not take on Aston Villa until Sunday.
