The Dutch goalkeeper says it's essential for the Red Devils to get back to winning ways if they are to capture the Premier League crown.

Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar reckons that it is imperative they claim victory in Sunday's clash with Aston Villa if they are to lift the Premier League trophy this season.

The Red Devils have seen their lead at the top of the table reduced to just one point following successive defeats to Liverpool and Fulham, and the former can replace United at the summit if they beat the latter on Saturday.

While the 38-year-old former Netherlands international insists that United are far from facing a crisis, he admits they need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible to ensure the campaign ends in success.

"The Villa fixture is a massive game for us," Van der Sar told The Manchester Evening News.

"We have lost the last two games so we have got to make sure we are back on top again and that means winning our games.

"If you put it into context then we have lost two games in four months. Overall that's not a bad record, but because the emphasis has been placed on the last two games, it looks very bad.

"So, we are not too worried, though we need to win the next game."
