thumbnail Hello,

Rafa has continued to stoke the flames of the ongoing charm-offensive to keep Danny Agger at Liverpool.

With Daniel Agger's future at Anfield looking more and more uncertain, Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has reiterated that he still considers the youngster as a vital part of the club's plans.

The 24-year-old defender has been increasingly linked with a move away from Liverpool in a season which has never quite kicked-off for him due to injury, with AC Milan the most high-profile and determined of his many admirers.

Virtually immediately after putting pen to paper on his new five-year deal, Benitez said that it would be one of his top priorities to ensure that Agger commit his long-term future to the club as well, and though his latest comments on the matter weren't exactly forceful, the intention behind them was clear.

"Agger knows what I think of him," Benitez told the Mail on Sunday.

"If he stays fit, he will have as good a chance of playing as anyone else, maybe more."

Agger has returned from injury just in time for Liverpool’s title run-in, but recent evidence suggests that he is behind Martin Skrtel, Jamie Carragher and even Sami Hyypia in the Reds' defensive pecking order.
