Carlos Vela Encouraged By Development At Arsenal
The Mexican starlet insists that he is happy with the way things have been going for him at Ashburton Grove, even though neither he nor the team have been firing on all cylinders.
Arsene Wenger has already dubbed Carlos Vela, 19, the best natural finisher at Arsenal, which is some accolade considering his tender age and the presence of Eduardo da Silva in the Gunners squad.
He emerged in England with a burgeoning reputation and made himself a household name in the barracks of the Red and White army after his hat-trick against Sheffield United in the third round of the League Cup. He is yet to go on a scoring tear, however, though he does not appear overly concerned with his goal ratio at the moment.
"I’m very happy, in my mind things keep improving. I’m more relaxed here now, and I think I have improved a lot from playing against teams at the top level here in England," Vela enthused in a recent Arsenal match programme.
"It’s always difficult coming from a different league and having to acclimatise but I feel that things are going well."
The Mexican international was a bargain buy in 2005 for £125,000 (rising to £550,000) but had to spend two and a half years in Spain while he obtained a work permit to play in England.
