Torres Hoping For A Hat-Trick Against England
Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is hoping to keep his recent good scoring run going against England on Wednesday night.
Spain’s Fernando Torres has admitted he is looking forward to Wednesday’s international friendly against England, and that he is hoping to get the better of the Three Lions.
England travel to Seville for the game, with a fit-again Torres likely to feature for the European Champions, in a match which will see him come up against several familiar faces in Fabio Capello’s side.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, Torres admitted, "I'm looking forward to it. A Spain-England match is always a big spectacle even if it is a friendly.
“For me it will be a very special game with several colleagues from Liverpool in the teams and others from the Premier League.
“I hope things go well and I score a hat-trick!”
After enduring an injury-plagued season, Torres has returned to the Liverpool side in recent weeks and has plundered three goals in his last two games for the Reds.
‘El Nino’ hit a double in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat of Chelsea at Anfield before appearing as a late substitute at Fratton Park yesterday and netting the winner as Rafael Benitez’s side came from behind to claim a 3-2 victory.
One man who Torres is likely to face on Wednesday is England skipper John Terry and the Liverpool striker confessed he knows exactly what to expect from the Chelsea man.
“Terry is a very experienced defender, very good in the air,” explained Torres.
“To overcome him it is important to stay calm. You also want to play mainly on the floor with the ball at your feet.”
