Arsenal's latest foreign import has said that if he had his way, women would not be allowed on the road!
Andrey Arshavin's arrival at Arsenal, and the consequent beam of pride he felt when he labelled himself a "gooner," when he introduced himself to the press and fans for the first time will have no doubt endeared himself to the red and white support.
However, that could all become unstuck with the revelation that he - according to The Sun - opposes women drivers!
The £16.5 million signing, from Russian club Zenit St Petersburg, is quoted by the tabloid as saying:
"If I had it in my power to introduce a ban on women driving cars and to withdraw all their licences, I would do it without thinking twice."
He continued: "In my opinion a woman and a man are two absolutely different creatures."
Arshavin drives a Mercedes GL class that is "big and comfortable."
If girls are interested, he also reeled off a list of pre-requisite requirements that he looks for in the opposite sex: "I like tall, slim girls with narrow thighs and tiny bums.
"If a girl is like this I do not pay attention to her breasts. Hair colour doesn’t matter either. What is really important is her style and manners."
Andrey Arshavin though is in a long-term relationship, and is committed to girlfriend Yulia.
They have two children: Artem, 3, and Yana, nine-months.
